The New York Yankees want to bolster their offense this offseason and have been mentioned as one of the many clubs interested in a trade for Juan Soto.

According to a report, discussions between the Yankees and San Diego Padres have progressed to the point of exchanging names of players that could be involved in a potential deal.

Despite the development, a trade is not imminent.

Trade talks involving Chicago White Sox right-hander Dylan Cease have intensified to the point that a deal could come before the Winter Meetings, according to a report.

The Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers have been linked to Cease in rumors.

Cease, 28, still carries two seasons of club control and is just one year removed from finishing second in American League Cy Young voting.

The New York Mets aren't done adding to their starting rotation after signing Luis Severino to a one-year deal on Wednesday.

The club still plans to add multiple starters, according to a report.

New York remains in the hunt for Japanese star Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Juan Soto is "almost certain to be traded" by the San Diego Padres, according to a report.

In the report, Ken Rosenthal cites the Padres' payroll burden and need for pitching that could be acquired in a trade.

"The question is not whether Soto will be traded," Rosenthal wrote. "The question is which team will acquire him."

Soto, 25, entering his final year of team control and is projected to make $33 million in arbitration.

Those around baseball believe the Houston Astros are listening to trade offers for Alex Bregman, who will be a free agent after the 2024 season.

"I think that there is a chance that he may not even be playing in Houston this year," MLB Network Radio's Jim Duquette said of Bregman. "... There are teams out there that would definitely have interest if [the Astros] are making him available. And you kind of quietly hear his name -- if they are not shopping him, I think they are listening."

Andy Martino of SNY corroborated Duquette's report.

The Astros have a lot of decisions to make in the coming months. Jose Altuve will be a free agent following next season, while Framber Valdez and Kyle Tucker are on track to hit the open market in 2025. 

The Cincinnati Reds appear intent on addressing their starting rotation this offseason.

The club is interested in acquiring Tyler Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays, according to a source.

Glasnow, 30, is seen as a likely trade candidate as he is due $25 million in 2024 before reaching free agency.

The Reds pursued Sonny Gray before he landed with the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers are among the clubs that have been linked to Dylan Cease should the Chicago White Sox trade the pitcher, according to a report.

The Braves were interested in Aaron Nola before he re-signed with the Philadelphia Phillies, as well as Sonny Gray, who reached a three-year deal with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Cease, 27, is under club control for two more seasons.

If the San Diego Padres trade Juan Soto this offseason, the New York Yankees "have a very good chance of getting him," according to a report out of the Dominican Republic.

However, the report also states that there's a greater chance Soto will remain with the Padres than be traded at all.

There is enough trade interest in Juan Soto that we could see the superstar dealt by the San Diego Padres before the end of the Winter Meetings in early December, according to a report.

The New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants remain the clubs to keep a close eye on in trade talks.

A number of clubs have shown interest in trading for Cleveland Guardians right-hander Shane Bieber, according to a report.

The 2020 American League Cy Young winner has one year of team control remaining before he can test the free agent market, which makes him a prime trade candidate.

Bieber went on the injured list in mid-July with right elbow inflammation, but returned to make two starts in September.
